These sessions are we think unique in the UK.  We share our workshop space at the Fossil Shop with our sister company GeoEd Ltd who for over 25 years produced handmade replica fossils that can be seen in museums, universities and collections all over the world.

Now you can join us in our workshop that overlooks Scarborough South Bay and under the guidance of our experienced team create your own handmade, high quality replica, that you can then take home, perhaps as a unique gift , or to take pride of place in your home. You have the choice of one of three replicas to complete, all legendary Jurassic fossils, worth at least £120 if bought from GeoEd as finished items.

Archaeopteryx lithographica, A fine reproduction of the classic Berlin Archaeopteryx. From Solnhofen, Eichstatt, Bavaria, Germany. 470mm x 390 mm

Stenopterygius quadriscissus A magnificent complete Ichthyosaur specimen showing superb detail of all the individual bones. From Holzmaden, Germany. 1170 mm by 370 mm

Allosaurus fragilis Skull plaque of one side of this bipedal carnivorous dinosaur. From the Jurassic Morrison Formation, USA. 600 mm x 430 mm

During the day you will transform a bare plaster cast into a finished ready to display work of art, you will have the chance to practice your techniques on a number of smaller replicas before applying them to your main piece, you can keep all the items you practice on as well as your masterpiece!

Due to the time required to fully cure plaster we are not able to offer people the chance to pour their own replicas, instead we will supply a bare plaster cast for you to work on.

The day starts at 10:15am, we will provide tea/coffee etc. There will be a 1hr lunchbreak and we aim to finish at around 4:30pm. There are only two tickets per session to allow for COVID regulations and also so you get plenty of time from our team. Currently these sessions are limited to over 16s only, we hope to revise this soon.

If you are travelling to Scarborough for these events then Discover Yorkshire Coast has lots of useful information about accommodation and travel. You might also want to combine it with one of our other events.  If you have any questions please get in touch.
