Jurassic oysters on the high street? Carboniferous corals in the cobbles? Can you really find fossils on the historic streets of York? Join us for a Great York Fossil Hunt this October half-term and we'll show you, yes you can!
The Great York Fossil Hunt is a fun, family event, which begins at Queen's Staith, York. Booking is essential, and all under-16s must be accompanied. Everyone who signs up will receive our Great York Fossil Hunt guide to urban fossil-hunting, with a map of York showing good places to look. After finding fossils on Queen's Staith, we'll then cross the Ouse Bridge to hunt them in the city centre, before strolling into York Museum Gardens to see what else we can find. The fossil hunt will last around an hour.
WARNING: you'll never be able to look at pavements and building stones the same way again!
